Markings to be applied to SANS conforming Treated Timber Products.:

For any hazard class (H2 to H6)

Note:
Y3 designates 3 years minimum service life. Refer SANS 1288 Ed 3,Table 3, page 10

SANS 457 / 753 / 754

Markings to be applied to products conforming to SANS 457, 753 or 754 (controlling all aspects of the product, not only treatment penetration and retention):

Place SANS code number
(eg. 457 F) directly below the symbol.
See table below - black “Markings for SANS)”

For any hazard class (H2 to H6)
SANS 457-2 is for Softwood and 457-3 for Hardwood
SANS 753 and 754 are for telephone and transmission poles.

Refer to Table1 & 2, pages 7 & 11 of SANS 457-3 Ed 6 for the quality difference between “S” & “F”

Note:
SATAS is now also in the permit issuing market & UPC in consignment inspection, therefor their logo’s will be used in the cases where they are involved.
